What Makes ACCENDA Unique?

Until now, universal remote controls have been designed either for good looks or to please gadget hounds.

Unfortunately that meant that they were too uncomfortable, too unfriendly, too complicated, or just too awkward for the rest of us to learn and use. As a result, most consumers have continued to remain happier with a handful of original equipment remote controls than with universal remotes.

This hobson’s choice, while inconvenient for most of us, is especially troublesome for the elderly, consumers who are either blind or visually impaired, and those with physical handicaps. Original equipment remote controls, with their increasingly tiny buttons and often strange layouts are simply not people-friendly.

The new ACCENDAtm is designed to address the needs of all consumers.

What makes the ACCENDA remote control different?

  • Users have the choice between conventional handheld operation, or hands-free voice operation.

  • ACCENDA has extra-large comfortable, sculpted keys and a logical, functional layout. Each section of the keypad has differently shaped buttons making it easy to find the right button just by feel. And the backlit keys have large, bold printing. No more squinting.

The volume and channel buttons are mounted on the sides (a set on each side for left-handed or right-handed operation), so you never have to reach for these all-important buttons.

  • Turn on the sound response, and ACCENDA’s friendly voice tells you what button you pressed. Hold the button and it sends the command. Press the wrong button? Just release it and ACCENDA will not send the code.

  • How many times have you done this with a universal remote control: You press “Cable” to change channels, then “TV” to change volume, then you press “Channel Up” without remembering to switch back to the cable mode. Now your television is on the wrong channel and you have to reset it just to watch TV again. This annoyance alone drives many users away from universal remote controls.

ACCENDA’s Smart Sourcetm lets YOU dictate what the remote control will affect whenever you press volume, channel, power etc. With Smart Source, you never need to fumble for the device source button again.

  • You’re watching TV and you hear an “800" number you want to remember. ACCENDA’s Memo Recorder allows you to record the number. No trying to find a pencil and paper in the dark!

  • Menu and set up buttons are an especial annoyance for the elderly, blind and visually impaired. Press the wrong button by accident, and they can’t watch TV again until somebody helps reset the system.

ACCENDA’s Flip Down Keypad hides the less frequently used buttons so they are never pressed by accident. And the unique “Lock” button locks-out menu and guide buttons that require on-screen display. No more accidently changing your television, cable, or DSS settings.

  • ACCENDA features the acclaimed Innotech Systems infrared code library -- used by some of the world's leading remote control suppliers -- to ensure that ACCENDA will control virtually every TV, VCR, Cable box etc. ACCENDA includes nearly 1,000 remote control codes, and does not require time consuming and error-prone “learning” of IR codes from existing remote controls.

  • ACCENDA’s easy-to-program macros allow users to perform even the most complex operation (up to fifty steps) with just the press of a single button or with just one spoken instruction.
